‘분리배출 해서 버려야 돼.’
‘분리배출’ refers to ‘the separation of waste into different types’. Large items, plastic items, cans, paper items, Styrofoam items, and glass bottles, such as vinyl. In Korea, you must separate your garbage when you throw it away.
Many Koreans express it as '분리수거', but the expression is incorrect. '수거'refers to ‘picking up’, and ‘배출’ refers to ‘exporting(emission)’. Therefore, it is correct to say that separating and disposing of garbage is ‘분리배출’.
‘캔, 유리병, 페트병은 재활용 쓰레기통에 버려야 돼.’
At home, we sort and throw away in detail, but at convenience stores, we usually categorize them into recycling, general garbage, and food waste. Items that can be recycled, such as cans, vinyl, plastic, PET bottles, and glass bottles, are thrown into the recycling bin. Other garbage that cannot be recycled, such as garbage with food on it, is thrown into the general trash can. And throw leftover food or broth in the food waste bin.
